| Re: Panama Fishing in December....???
I fish the Coral Star every year (the next time in March '08) and have fished in Panama during every month. Except for the wet/dry season cycle there is not much of a noticeable difference when fishing the Coiba Region as it maintains a year-round stable water temperature and other conditions. That doesn't mean your favorite fish will be there biting when you're there. Generally, wahoo are the most migratory and there will be less of them in the dry season (January to May). Others such as black & blue marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna and dorado can be going good offshore while roosterfish, cubera snapper, amberjack, bluefin trevally, jack crevalle and other inshore or reef species are available all year. The big thing is that hardly any year is the same compared to the prior year. Sometimes the big yellowfin (150-300 lbs.) are hot in December and January while the next year they are best in March. Regular size yellowfin can usually be found all year. The thing about Panama though is that there are usually big fish biting every week and if you're flexible you will be able to have some great action. If you only want one type of gamefih then you're limiting your chances.
I'll be fishing out of the Cebaco Bay Sportfishing Club December 20 to 31 so maybe we'll cross paths.
