Some of the best wahoo fishing in the world during September is found in Panama. The Coiba Island Region as well as the Tuna Coast are very reliable. I'm leaving for the Tuna Coast tomorrow and I expect loads of wahoo (they show up during the wet season).

Second Tony´s comment on Panama wahoo fishing, we went to Morro de Puercos area (Tuna Coast) on father´s day (June 17th) and had a banner with seven nice ones up to 52 lbs plus six football Yellow Fin Tuna to 15 pounds, traditionally the best bite is yet to come in September and October, Manuel. |

I did well in Los Suenos C.R. in Sept '03 for wahoo fishing on a hump about 10 miles out. Bermuda another good choice. Bahamas wahoo is slow during the summer, picks up in November - April.

Pretty damn good right here on Oahu too that time of year. Pretty nice being a half mile off the beach catching Ono. Nice part IMHO is there is so much more to do instead of fishing all day long.

I have always fished a 9 day trip aboard the Polaris Supreme that leaves around September 1st every year and targets the big early season wahoo at Alijos Rocks and the ridge. No boat pressure on the fish in early September makes for excellent wahoo fishing...

Nice work Manuel...You happen to know Gary Saavedra? Good friend of mine and pro-surfer down in Panama, his uncle runs a fishing operation in Pedasi? Nice work anyway man, LOTS O WHOOO!!
Oh and yes SEPT and OCT are definately good wahoo times in Panama and don't listen to Jack (bertram31) you don't need anything to do besides fish, we just drink Flor De Cana' or Secos J/k Jack....
Stay away from Caribean area's like virgin islands and bahamas though, they tend to go crazy on the Wahoo in November-january IMO
Good luck, drink alot, and dammit if its a birthday party please post a good report of your buddy getting owned somehow huh!
Curtis

yes I happen to know Gary´s cousin, his nickname is Pimply, have a very nice setup in Ciruelo, actually it is named "Sereia do Mar Bed & Breakfast", surely because of some influence of his brazilian wife, have the nicest boats in the area also.
Last two days I was fishing with Tony for roosters in Cañas, did OK with a rooster for each one of us the hard way throwing poppers all over the place, also some good fish went away trolling live cojinua, sorry that I have to leave because of job related issues, will come back for Pedasi torneo today, Manuel.

we do pretty good here (costa rica) for the next couple months. right now we're catching them every trip offshore and typically putting 2-5 fish in the cooler first thing then switching to other types of fishing, i haven't been targetting the wahoo for the full day, but if you did you'd wear your arms out. the big hoo are a little furthur run, what i'm catching are mostly 15-40 pound fish in closer where we can easily switch to snapper, amberjack and black marlin on live bait.
