| Los Suenos, Costa Rica?
I am trying to plan a trip down to Los Suenos for April 2007 and would appreciate any information regarding charter services? The only thing that is set in stone is my place to stay, as I am going to be staying at the Marriott Beach Club right near the Marina. As mentioned, charter and any other experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Matt-

| Re: Los Suenos, Costa Rica? Matt, I am leaving for Costa Rica TONIGHT!!!! My first trip there, so we’ll see how it goes. I am staying mostly in Jaco which is south of Los Suenos and then in Puntarenas which is North of you. We bought a house there and I haven’t even seen it yet. My wife is a Tica, but has lived in the US for like 20 years. I definitely plan on fishing so I’ll share my findings with you when I get back in a week. Pura Vida!

James,
Best of luck to you! Especially let me know what's going on in Jaco (pangas, charter boats, fishing conditions, catch, etc.). If fishing inshore, see if the "26" spot is close by, if so, I heard it is loaded with huge Pargo (Barrett, aka Capt. Cabo, passed me that info - he spends alot of time down there). Look forward to hearing from you upon your return. As for fishing now, I heard that some of the larger tuna are starting to make an appearance and you know that the Sail bite should be solid, like always. Anyways, good luck.

Matt, I got some info for you. I went on a canopy tour out of Jaco (like 10 min. south of Suenos) and met a guy who was staying and fishing in Los Suenos. He brought his grandsons and they fished on the same boat for 4 days, both inshore and offshore. The name of the boat is “Sweet Dreams”. He HIGHLY recommends the boat and crew. He said that the boat is really nice, bilingual crew and knew all the spots. Also, if you plan on driving from the airport to Los Suenos, be careful. There are NO street signs. It is really hard to navigate your way around the city and the other people driving are out of control. Some other things….. Bring bug spray, know the conversion from CRC to USD (500 CR Colon = $1 US Dollar) or exchange before you leave. DO NOT EXCHANGE your money at the airport like some fools do. You get a horrible rate. Go to a bank if you do or your hotel will probably do it too. Speaking Spanish is a HUGE plus. Some people speak English, but not that much. You have a year so study-up! In the hotel you should be fine. If you’re not from Costa Rica, the Taxi cab drivers will try to screw you. My wife is Costa Rican and they tried to screw us a few times because I was with her. PM me if you have any questions at all. Costa Rica is awesome, but totally different from anywhere else I have been. Pura Vida!
