Panama Canal " Giant Tarpon ''

My buddy Nikos Mamais an avid angler in Panama ,invited me to go fishing at the lake this afternoon , I just kinda said maybe , now I wish I went , he boated a very nice Tarpon weighing in at 110# ,catching it on a red & white Rapala, this Tarpons inside the Canal have grown huge via the Carribean side, the lake is pure fresh water
me and Kil was just fishing there a few days ago ,here are some pics , unfortunately they could not revived the fish ,great catch on light tackle , congratulation to Nikos

Sorry about the resuscitation, although someone has already figured out a way to eat it I'm sure.
We used to dive with those big boys off of South Padre, around the collection platforms, they never would eat our left over burritos ?
Now that I fish, I would really like to C & R one, I hear they are brutes.

Your first post and you act like a dumb ass. Well done.

They said they tried to revive the fish. It did not make it.

The pictures are more than likely post-mortem.

Stop assuming you know everything you make yourself look like an ass.

People in third world countries will eat it.

So let me get this right,it's ok for a "sportfisherman"to kill a fish like a tarpon in some third world country because they are so poor someone will eat it.It's a proven fact that the breeding stocks of the great tarpon that are caught in the southeastern us are being decimated in central america.

Where did he or I say it was ok to kill it? They tried to revive it, it did not make it.

You assumed they took the pictures while it was still alive and that's what killed it. How do you know that? You don't.

I highly doubt the fish was wasted and was probably eaten.

Fish do die, even when trying to practice catch and release. If you want to make sure they don't die don't fish for them.

Don't shit on someone elses catch if you don't have any idea of the story behind it.

Like I said previously, nice way to start your account here.

Yo Jackass, if you are going to preach conservation around here you need to back it up with FACTS not complete BULLSHIT and you can start with actually READING the original post.

FACT #1. the fish was fought on very light tackle for a long time and could not be revived despite the efforts and desires of the Anglers.

FACT#2. there is NO communication with Central American Stocks of Tarpon and the South Eastern United States. You need a fucking geography lesson if you think a Panamanian Tarpon has the slightest chance of swimming to Florida all the way across the entire Caribbean Sea. The Central American stocks of Tarpon are completely separate from stocks in the United States. That is a proven FACT not the bullshit you are spraying.

Fact #3. This Tarpon was caught in a LAKE in the middle of the PANAMA CANAL FOR FUCK SAKES. Do you really think these fish have a migratory pattern that uses the locks of the canal to transit back and forth from their cozy lake to catch Spring Break in Ft. Lauderdale then go all the way back to their LAKE in Panama like some kind of gringo Salmon ?

Fact#4. You sir, are a Donkey. Now GTFO.

PS. And I am usually one of the FIRST to preach conservation around here backed up with the FACTS of growth rates, life cycle, migratory patterns and condition of breeding stocks etc... SO make notes as to how it's done.
