Week TWO at Propiedad de Paradise ..Isla Parida, Panama

Week two: July 9th - 14th...Our friend Steve Dougherty, Editor for Florida Sportfishing Magazine came down to shoot some photos, catch some fish and enjoy the one of the best places on earth....PANAMA.

Steve, Capt Shane Jarvis, Owner Bruce Jarvis and myself head for the Hannibal Bank under the direction of Captain "Keeli-manjaro" for local knowledge (on loan from Pesca Panama...Thanks Jay).

We arrive at the normal bait spot, sabiki up some cojinua and we're off....
The bite had died off at Isla Montuosa the week before and Capt Keeli decided it was best to head for the Bank...Stopping at a giant log to wack the Do-Dos with poppers..Steve jumps into the water, snapping some amazing underwater pix...the skippies were non-existant and we trolled for tuna....occationally spotting the small yellowfin and larger skip jacks. breaching the dark blue water. We continued to slow troll the runners ....catching a few small Yellow Fin Tuna's ...afternoon came and we headed home for Isla Parida for rum-drinks and tuna grilling.....All of a sudden...Keeli gets a call on the VHF...."TUNA!TUNA!TUNA!" ...We take a turn for Isla Ladrones and find ourself in a sea of Porpoise....toss a few livies out....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....Steve D's on one rod...ZZZZZZZZZZZZ...Capt Shane's on ....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ... Bruce is on....................the firedrill continues....as much as i wanted to gaff every fish at the boat, i knew we had over 200lbs of loins at the house from the previous week of fishing.....we released around 6 tunas and ran home out of bait and daylight... great couple of days overall....no marlin this week...i think the full moon on the 7th might have an effect on the bite... on Steve last day... we scoured Isla Paridas for Rooster fish and Trevally..... good times... Here is a sneak-peak of Steve Dougherty's photos and be sure to check out his other photos online @ Dougherty Photography

Fucking beautiful photos!

I know things change quickly but when we are at Hannibal last week every single bait (what we call skipjack in Mexico but known as bonita in Panama) that hit the water got eaten by tuna. The bait did not just come back with teeth marks like they often do, they came back demolished. If we could get the bait past the tuna the marlin fishing was great. Hopefully you guys have this problem next time you fish Hannibal.

Kyle, Whats up...I spoke to your father in Boca Chica while your boat was gettin checked out...I believe you spoke with Shane about anchoring up at the lodge at Isla Parida.....keep in contact with him ( shane@fishPanamatoday.com ) or myself... Ben@fishPanamatoday.com ...I used to live Punta Mita in '06-'07... Shane has lived in Panama for the last 4 years and pretty much knows everyone around...

Great photos! That sky-lighting on the rooster underwater is a top ten.
