I have been watching this for some time now. I have a house outside San Jose for about 8 years now in Santa Ana,I love it and love the time I spend there. When we are there we drive all over the country and explore as much as we can in a small Hyundai Elantra (all cars are twice the cost as here). I use to spend alot of time in Mexico And as in all Latin American They are all 3ed world country's and you must adjust to there way of life or be very unhappy.
I have never fished in Costa Rica to much cash for me and I don't have a fishing partner down there but in the future I will post here to hook up with a travailing fisherman to split cost with. I fish in and out of San Diego and have traded with most of the boats over the years.
My wife was born there and we have family and many friends and I'm at home there.
The bad thing are true -most rental cars get broken into, San Jose and beach areas have street crime by young drug users. Your unprotected home will get entered when your gone. You need someone to keep or stay near. Small developments or condos work good the compound Guard are worth the money. The roads are very dangerous VERY. There is no police help or punishment for offenders. All Latin American banking and any official bus is trying to say the least.

But I love the place and the people and will be back down asap.
The economy has hurt us and we have tightened up on all travailing.
Will be there In December and can't wait( want to split a boat ride)

I hope the answers some of your questions.

Thanks Frank. It sounds like maybe i need to take a vacation. Geographically it looks very small. Seems like one could easily travel from CR to Panama, that way spend some time in both places. Are there major border issues?? Custom?? Are there people gonna mess with you at the borders?? Im assuming, please confirm, that it is safe to cross the border of CR/Panama?? Whereas, from hundreds of posts in multiple post any sane person would agree that crossing the US/Mex border (Baja) is VERY dangerous, if you add up all the ways you can be PLAYED.

Never been to Hawaii, always wanted to go there, must get there soon. But living in Hawaii would not be leaving the states. So it would not accomplish the goal. I do not want to leave the states. I dont want to go elsewhere. But there is only so much i will personally take. When it gets to the point that liberties are being taken away to the extent that i start to see it or feel it, I AM GONE... I will die before i will live under Tyranny. If it comes to that then maybe CR or Panama would be the place. For any american to leave the homeland would require a tremendous amount of thought and consideration. It would be a grueling decision. I would imagine most that leave the states leave for the same or similar reasons. Waking up sucks, sorta. Ignorance is bliss.

Nicaragua is poor and very poor and the stupid people elected a commy Pres. But the people are soft and life is good. No problem crossing the Nic border Only been to Panama by boat. Lots of epats in CR that hate or are sick of thing in the states -NOT ME I LOVE THIS COUNTRY IT'S THE BEST IN THE WORLD.
But I also love Latin American and enjoy the people.
Just go and check thing out.

Damn straight its the best country in the world, its too bad a bunch of forces are trying to destroy it. Its also too bad that we got a bunch of people asleep at the wheel and not caring to know what is really happening. I guess people forgot its patriotic to question the govt, and some kind of phoney Flag BS is what people think matters. I disagree. Bunch of panty waist feMALES in this country. Our grandfathers wouldnt of stood for this shit.

We need guys like you to STAY in the states and help us with the battle! By the way, in the places we're talking about, Mexico, Nicaragua and Costa Rica in particular it is pretty tough to keep a gun and many other social liberties (such as a fairly reasonable justice system) that we still have in the states are not available in many third world countries. In Panama, I don't know of any of my friends that DON'T have a gun for self-defense. That alone helps keep crime in check where police forces are thin.

Just got back from Cabo Matapalo a few hours ago. Its insaine been hanging with monkeys and scarlet macaw parrots all day. Oh and 3 perfect right points .

CR is not for everybody.

all i need is a little house, a little back yard with a locking chainlink fence and gate with privacy slats, lots of vegetation and life on the property. A fridge that works, a micro, an oven, near fishing, and an internet connection. Its all i need. Brad, i admire what you are doing. That is living the dream for sure. Living life, instead of this rat race we are in. When you step back and look at what we do and why we do it, kinda boggles the mind. We could do so much more than we do. Still no matter what, true capitalism is better than Tyranny. At least with capitalism you can choose not to participate and still live a humble modest fulfilling life.

Can you tell im sour. Well i fished today. I think i just need sleep, hitting a wall been up almost 36 and im whooped.

Jimfrogs in all honesty my post was not aimed at anyone in particular. Clearly though there are lots of people who can't make it here, for the reasons I mentioned. Your right I don't know jack about you. You do seem alittle neurotic though.
