Panama popper fishing

our friends colin and john from england came back to do some popper fishing this week. they did very well, catching some very nice fish. As with most of our clients, they send the message CATCH AND RELEASE, thats the future.

awesome photos, great fish and super that you release them. i must say though, holding that big rooster like that is not good for them and with a fish that size, can actually cost it its life. keep them horizontal. but good job.

the rooster went back very well and alive , we spend a lot of time making sure they go back alive and safely, we would never harm what we catch , unlike another lodge they just want to kill everything , again you no who you are !!!

i'm sure he went back in the water alive but the damage may have already been done and it may have died later due to trauma suffered.

holding roosterfish, or any large fish, in a vertical position is counter to the natural condition. Think about it! While the fish is in the water, the natural buoyancy of the liquid medium holds and supports the fish's organs in the correct position. By simply removing the fish from the water causes the internal organs to become stressed and somewhat displaced from their natural location. And now add to it the absolutely un-natural position of holding the fish vertical. I don't know of any hands on research that actually describes what happens to the stomach, liver, heart, and gonads of a fish being held out of the water in a vertical position, but something tells me that this has to induce unnecessary stress on the heart and other organs. Like when a cow lays on its side, or when an elephant or horse 'goes down'. If they aren't righted soon and supported in some way, the internal organs soon fail.

and besides, that is how you hold a dead fish and it just looks bad.

Nice double header Cuberas , the guy in the yellow shirt next to the "Jackass" , forgot to bring his Tampon , either he's on his period or the fish is bleeding to death , I like to see pictures of fish getting release in the water , Catch and release doesn't mean throwing half dead fish in the water , you are ignorant and hypocrite , you call what you do C & R for personal gratification ,none of the fish pictures you have looks like it can survive , sticking your hands in that Cuberas and Roosterfish gills and assume it will survive is plain stupid , again I think your just plain " Ignorant "

i can asure you pole what ever your name is !!!! that all those fish went back well and alive , the blood on the shirt was from a cut from one of the hooks !! well at least all of our fish go back in the water , unlike most yanks in the cool box, we are just trying to presevre the fish , we do not kill a single fish , also you have bad attitude , mr pole

Dear Hole Dancer,

You may be subject to periods, but the blood on the shirt was a result of the Cuberra's dorsal fin catching the inside of my palm. Please maintain your intelligent comments.

this forum is getting to be ridicules...a guy can't post some photos without getting slammed, a guy can't make a comment without getting slammed, and it's really starting to look more like a free billboard ad for these 2 fucking panama lodges that both seem to think that they are in the only place in the whole world that produces fish and if anybody from another area claims he catches fish, it is BS.

and i love how they are just slamming each other too, i guess there's only room for 1 fishing lodge in panama.

i say if you want to kill a snapper, kill it! eat it, they taste great. but don't kill them all.

pain in the arse couldn't be more correct with his explanation about how mistreating the roosters and then dumping them back into the water can cause death. i had a client ask to hold one like that for a photo this season and i said no way then explained why and he was content with the 'living' fish photo(horizontal) and again as paininthearse said, the other way just looks like a dead fish and is really unnecessary and at the risk of being slammed, STUPID!

awesome job on the cuberas

Hey Chad-

Anyone who has been to your lodge knows you guys are a class "A" operation that has the utmost respect for the sport of fishing. Keep up the good work!

If you can't handle the sight of a little blood then maybe you shouldn't be logging onto "BLOODYDECKS"!!!!!
