My trip to Costa Rica

First Id like to say THANK YOU to all of the people that gave me info on charter boats in Guanacaste Costa Rica. It sounds like there are alot of good skippers there so it took a while for me to make up my mind. I was only going to get to fish for one full day so I wanted to make a good choice. I DID WHEN I MAID UP MY MIND TO FISH WITH CAPT ADAM (CRGAMEFISH).
The night before my trip I dont think I got a total of 2 hours sleep. I tried but I was so excited My mind was going 100 miles an hour.I was staying north of Tamarindo about an hour so i got a cab early in the morning and got there about an hour sooner than I needed to but it was fun talking to the other deck hands and capts that were also there getting ready for the day of fishing. upon talking to them they all talked highly of Adam and ensured me that I would have a steller day of fishing.

Capt Adams decka hand came to get me off the beach in a smaller boat that we used as a taxi to get to the Ocean Smasher.

Upon reaching the boat with the deck hand, Mario, we quickly got everything ready and were off.

The ride out was a little bumpy, I musta have brought some of the shitty ocean down from home. Sorry Guys! We fished all over the place and just couldnt find the fished that were there 2 days prior. Later in the morning, we saw the problem as a helocopter flew over us. The was a purse sain boat that was working the area. I've seen these on TV but until you witness it first hand you just dont know how bad they really are and how they affect the fish and the comunities they steal the fish from.
Amad and Mario worked there butts off trying to get me some fish. About 12:00 we got hooked up with a sailfish. I WAS STOKED! If you ve never caugh one of these you better put it on your to do list. It was a blast. Watching him take the bait, then jumping through the air will be somthing I never forget.

Finally got my first (hopefully of many to come) SAILFISH!
Thanks to Capt Adam and Mario.
WE raised one other sail that day but couldnt get him hooked up. Ladies and Gentlemen, It was fishing at its finest. THese guys worked hard for me right up till the end.

I was not disappointed at all, it was a fun trip. Im sure it was frustrating for ol' Capt witht he fish not cooperating, but no worries. Cant get em all the time. Although I see they've been doing well since I left.
Adam I guess I didnt get any pics of you! Probably a good thing. Your not pretty enough for a fishing post anyway!
All joking aside, If you want a good experience, Adams the guy to fish with. I only got 1 sail that day but Im not to sure anyone else in Tamarrindo caught any bill fish. HE WORKS HARD. you wouldnt be disappointed. I cant wait to get back down there and do it again. Adam, this ones for you and Mario
Thanks for a great trip

Hey Brandon
Man, I was hoping to find the mother load for you.. thanks for coming down and saying such good things about us. Would always love to have you back for sure. Ya, for some reason it was just one of those days, and the weather kind of stunk the first half of the day. Im glad we got you photos of the Sail and was hoping to have more for you of tuna, wahoo, and such.. but we tried everything.. Hope you make it back down again, I would definately hook you up on a trip out! Thanks again for all the great words- keep in touch.
Capt. Adam

Flyfishing for Billfish not a problem, we get alot of guys on the boat with flygear. We troll with teasers and get the Billfish to do a bait and switch to the fly as we pull the fish close to the transom. Or we can cast to fish on the surface, we have a big front casting deck.

Weather or Knot:

Great report and pictures! It looks like you had a good time and were served well by Capt. Adam, despite the slow bite. Considering it is the Off season for Billfishing in Costa Rica at this time, you seem to have made out ok and made the best of the season.

Our boats have been getting several sails per trip here out of Los Suenos, but nowhere near the numbers we are accustomed to from December through April. The Yellowfin Tuna here are thick now,as are the Mahi's. The near shore bite has fired off pretty good as well, and the Big Roosters are finally cooperating.

It's always great to see forum members hook up and have a great expereince. We get a lot of guests that book, fish, and travel with us from several other forums, and always enjoy seeing their reports on the boards after they return.

Pura Vida!
