Just a report from the Tamarindo area, north Costa Rica.
Fished 3 days. Finding alot of nice size (30-50lb.) tuna offshore under the porpoise schools, and more Dorado showing under debri lines that are coming from the newly rain river run-offs. The Dorado have been running 25-40lbs. Some Sailfish and Marlin mixed in. We caught 1 Striped Marlin, raised another, raised a small Blue Marlin, and had quite a few Sails come up into the spread.. just got to run over the right area to find the fish. Released a total of 6 Sails for the 3 days. Heard of a couple Black Marlin taking off with live-Bonito and come undone around the inside reef among a couple other boats in the area. Rain has kicked in this week, will most definately see more and more debri lines and logs showing up offshore with a mixed bag of tuna and dorado under them. Season only gets better from hear on out in Tamarindo through the next few months! Look for an increase in Black Marlin, Sails, Tuna, and Dorado...
