Well, following the complete demo fo the old cabin, and the "Homemade Bait Tank" parts 1&2, here's the latest for those of you that have read everything else and are bored....I ripped out 15 feet of the main two (of four) inside stringers. The old ones where 3/4" ply with a shitty glass job, hence the reason the wood fell out of the glass when I cut them off the hull. I used two 3/4" sheets glued together for the replacement stringers.
The following pics are kinda shitty, but I used biscuits to join the butt joints, and 1/4" dowel pins to keep the two sheets aligned with matt in between and medium epoxy for all the "gluing". I stacked both stringer assy's together, and then put as much weight on them as I could get- cinderblocks, parts, ammo cans, firewood, anything to clamp the shit outta them.
After I had both dried assy's, I traced the old outline on one and cut it, and routed the curve on the top part so the roven woving goes over it nicely.
The third pic shows the rudder bearing support that goes across the tops of the stringers. It's two 3/4" pieces and one 1/2" piece, matt and dowels in bewtween like the stringers. The last pic shows early progress on the v-berth, which is now almost done, more to follow later.
Once I get these damn things back in I can finish the hull interior and bilge (Awlgrip or ????) and then drop in the block, velvet and v-drive. Can't wait to get my garage back, way too much boat shit all over the place....
Lata folks!
