Weight is very important.
Equally important is planing surface.
A true deep V will not get up on a plane, these are displacement vessels.
Typical Semi Deep Vee, like my Skipjack will get up on a plane with enough horse power to overcome the water I displace. I need about 3500 rpm to get up on plane fully loaded, then I can trim back to about 2500 or less & cruise. I can take on very rough seas with this design & ride pretty well. I have to have it .. bad back...
If the hull is flat, or nearly flat in the back, like a lot of Boats; Bayrunners, Pangas, & even some Parkers, the boat will plane very easily on less horse power, jump on a plane quickly, & burn less fuel.
So the lighter the better, & the flatter the planing surface, the easier it will be for your 90 to push a boat. Pangas & Bayrunners good choices. Maybe a bigger Bayrunner. A panga would probably be an excellent choice. Carolina Skiff, 18 Parker...
My friend had an awesome 18 x 8 Parker that could carry 4 guys, all there gear, bait etc, & did it with an 85 hp.
Good Luck
