Here you go Frank,
Actually for all the pictures that I have I couldn't find pictures of the inside of the bait tank, none at all. I went outside and took a couple this morning so you can see the inside of the tank.
First let me explain how the inside of the tank was built. First I must say that I looked and photographed a lot of tanks, offshore and others, but what I didn't like about them, call me stupid, is that every time I took that full/Half full pipe out I couldn't put it back in place in a flash, maybe this is something you develop with practice but I didn't want to find out later that it is a hassle. So my version of a bait tank is as follows.
All the conections are on the bottom of the bait tank, aka swim platform, so the rigging holes were made on the swim platform first. I made 4 holes here.
1.-Overflow when the tank is full
2.-Half full overflow
3.-Fill
3.-Empty
Holes 2-3 were hosed back to the boat. I placed a valve on the inside of the boat to control the "Half full overflow". So when I want the bait tank to be full I shut this valve, when I want it 1/2 full I open the valve. When I want to Empty the tank I flip the "Empty" valve, and of course there is another hole in the boat to drain all of this out.
To me, having the convenience of flipping a valve inside the boat is better than to hassle with the other alternatives.
On the left side you can see the fill holes are throughout the water column to keep all the water fresh. On the right side you see the slots where the water exits, again throughout the water column. Inside this wall, which by the way for those of you who have been paying attention was built and shown'ed on the same pic where the the "tank-opening-part" was built. Anyway, to continue, inside this wall there are two separate chambers, one is the fill chamber and the other the drain chamber, they are of course completely isolated form each other.
The blue color was chosen because it is said that a bright color (white) stresses the fish, and I know that for a fact having fish in my house for the last couple years. The finish inside the bait tank is as any other off the shelf fiberglass tank, mat and then a little sanding and then the color. This is blue gelcoat that I mixed myself, I used grey and blue pigment on white gelcoat. This pic shows a little more detail on the finish.
