Cool Pimp my Panga

Thought I would share with the board my recent project I started last weekend. Some of you may recongnise this boat, it use to be "Dos Panchos".
Anyway I took on the decision to re-power it with a F250TUR instead of the 130 V4 twins it had on it. With this decision I wanted to mount the new motor on a transom bracket and enclose the transom. That meant that I had to remove the existing splash well. Here is how a I/we went about starting. First off I must give a lot of credit to the guy I found to help me, as I have no fiberglass experience what-so-ever.

Remove existing splash well:

Cutting it out:

It's out:

New extended main deck all the way back to the stern meant cutting out some of the existing deck for a better seam:

Next... grinding and sanding, grinding and sanding:

to be continued...

More... sanding and grinding:

Found some dry rot, and removed it:

Comet wash and Acetone wipe got things fairly clean... more sanding:

No use for this, so it came out:

New stringers cut:

More later....

Kinda slow progress this week because of our real jobs that pay the bills.... we got the deck piece cut, finished buttering and glassed in the stringers and deck supports. I thought I would get the bilge all pretty and painted but didn't get to it. Hopefully this weekend....

Cutting the holes for the new aft deck hatches...

Holes cut, ready to fit check the hatch...

Perfect...

Looking good... I'll have almost 28sq ft more fishing room space...

Next steps... paint the bilge and give the new deck some glass...

Great job Don! Love checking in on your project, looks like you will be ready for the labor day fun. FYI, Caught 3 albies (2 ea. 20lb and 1 ea. 22lb), at the 371 with curt, linda and their 6 yr old grandson. Sunday fished outside from 1-5pm. water was flllattt. Heading to Ensenada this weekend, call me if you can get away.
