Saturday we had a fun trip to the little island. Loaded with candy, frogs and assortment of spanish and chovie. I had Alec onboard from Eric's Tackle in Ventura. Alec is known for making one of the nicest custom rods around. Also onboard we had Jamie N and his bro Junior.
Our plan was to depart @ 5pm and BBQ @ the Island and make some bait.
After a few birthday salude's we were in the rack. We fished a few areas for a halibut and some calico bass. As conditions improved we made a short move to a spot of working birds and dropped the hook on a little reef with deep stringers.
Fishing with 1/4 oz sliders and 30 to 40 Junior hooked a big goat, his personal best. Not settling for that, moments after hookup he gets a nice yellow, 24 lbs to be exact, then Hunter has to show off and sticks another in the same range with our new Accurate 270 7'9" w/25 that we set aside for our customers. Jamie then pops one off with 20 and switches to 40 and gets his 30.5. Alec feeling a little left out of the party gets a nice 23.5 fish. All in all a great day on the water fishing with friends.
Here's a pic of a trip we had yesterday with a crew of new anglers and a hali.
Feelin a little chill. Time to head to PV and chase the giants.
I will post when I get back.
