SB help

I'm headed from Morro Bay to Santa Barbara this weekend for a wedding and rather than loose a weekend out of our dwindeling season I'd like to bring my boat along and go out Sunday morning. My problem, I've never fished in SB. I'm not looking for the honey hole or any 'secret spots', just a start. What's up with bonita? I heard they were around there a while back, but that is when the halibut bite started, so all interest in that vanished sooner than it started. I'm in a 15' westcoaster, armed to the gills at that, but my capabilities are somewhat limited. Where to launch, what to fish for?? any suggestions

Naples reef area has been productive as of late for just about everything and draging the ball in 65 ft up the line has been good as well

WATCH THE WEATHER! Coastal Waters Forecast for Inner waters from Point Mugu to San Mateo Pt. CA including Santa Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands (PZZ655)

Channel Islands can get NASTY quick even this time of year. If you have the balls to make the crossing go to Santa Rosa and look for kelp. Fish a fly lined bait, and another set up with an egg sinker and you'll get calicos and a shot at everything from WSB to Bonita.

Good luck and be safe

Launch at SB Harbor. Move North because at the end of the day you can follow swells back to SB Harbor, usually moving downwind as well. Naples, good advice posted above. Plently of Kelp reefs near the shore on the journey to Naples. If it's clear water, with little swell or wind, bring your boat in tight 10-15 ft and fish the isles between the kelp with plastics (rootbeer color) for Halibut, Calico, and possible WSB. Keep it simple and enjoy.
