Hi Everybody!
My name is Dave McAdams, and a friend and I just thought of a new idea that I think you might like. We're renting a "delux motor coach" (fancy name for a bus) to take people from Los Angeles and Orange Counties down to Seaforth Landing in San Diego to go Albacore fishing. We chartered one of our favorite boats, the San Diego, and we're taking it out somewhere around 60 miles off Point Loma to hunt for albacore. The San Diego normally does 3/4 day runs to the Coronado Islands for yellowtail, but, during the month of August, when the albacore are coming in close to shore, the Captain, Ryan Bostain, makes a few trips far out for albacore. The boat leaves the dock at 4:00 AM, and, with a cruising speed of 12 knots, it can make it out to albacore territory by 9:00 AM. Then we fish until about 3:30 PM, and we head back in, getting to the dock at about 8:30 PM. We'll be starting the bus off in Glendale at 11:45 PM, and heading down south to the 10 West, then to the 405 South to the 5 South. We'll be making brief stops in Redondo Beach (12:35 AM), Irvine (1:50 AM), and San Juan Capistrano (2:30 AM), before heading in to Mission Bay in San Diego.
We're limiting the load to 40 people, so there should be lots of room on the boat. It's maximum capacity is 70 people, so we're just over a half load. We have plenty of room under the bus for your poles and your gear, and for a bunch of ice chests which we'll use to pack your fish on ice for the return bus trip north. The two biggest ice chests are 165 quarts each, so they're big enough to put whole albacore in if you don't want your fish filleted on the boat.
We're hoping everyone will like this idea, because you won't burn up all your gas driving to San Diego, and you won't wear yourself out either. You can sleep on the bus, while the driver does all the driving. If this works out like we expect it to, we'll expand into longer range tours with boats that go out overnight, and for 1.5, 2, and 3 days. But, since this is our very first tour, we need to start small. Please give us a try. We're only charging for the boat, and the bus is on us. The total cost is $98, and you only need to put down 20 dollars to reserve a spot. We realize we're brand new at this, and we want to earn your trust. So we're trying to make this an unreal deal, so you'll come on out and get to know us.
Our company name is California Sportfishing Adventures LLC, and there's more information on our website at
www.calsfa.com. The tour's on Friday, August 1, 2008, and we call it "The Albacore Express". Please have a look at our website and think about coming along. We're going to be pulling out all of the stops to give everyone a GREAT time on this, our very first tour.
When you go to our website, ignore the posted prices. If you just tell us you heard about us on BloodyDecks.com, we'll give you the prices I wrote about above. To sign up, you can either do it through the website, or you can email me directly at
