it's a small world after all......

I'm just riding the coat tails of the Big-Eye / Yellow Fin Tuna identification discussion from the Off-Shore Forum.

I wanted to share a "little" somthing to drop-back on your bars after they get hit......

Nothing more frustrating than when a school erupts on micro-bait in the wake, and all your drop-back bait are horse sardines. A little split-shot 3' up and you're matchin' what's hatchin' !!!

Let's see, hmmmm.......what else do I have in my LMB box that could cross over ?

After reading your work for almost 20 years now, it's you that has gotten me to think outside my "box"...........and to look into other "boxes" !!!!!

RIGHT ON, GRUMPSTER! THOSE LITTLE BOOGERS WILL PROBABLY WORK LIKE BANDITOS AFTER YOU'VE HOOKED UP AND RAISED THE SCHOOL MULTIPLE. REMEMBER, THOUGH, THE MORE BARS, THE BETTER TO GET THEIR ATTENTION AND COMING UP IN THE FIRST PLACE.

EVER MINDFUL OF THOSE BIGEYES - WHAT I CALL, "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FISH IN THE BOOKS FOR THE TOO MANY TIMES A BIG 'EYE OR POD OF THEM OR BIG BLUEFIN NAIL THE TYPICAL PUNY (SORRY TROOPS, BUT IT'S THE TRUTH), WIMPY, GIRL SCOUT TACKLE SO MANY HERE USE AND WHAT THEY DO TO IT, I'M MORE OF A TROLLER THAN I AM A RECEIVER WORM FISHERMAN.

HOWEVER, WHEN WE HAVE A BUNCH OF FISH ICED DOWN, DON'T WANT MORE AND WANTTO FOOL AROUND WITH THE LIGHTER (BUT NOT TOO LIGHT!) GEAR, HERE IS WHAT I LOAD UP WITH AN EGG SINKER AND CAST TO THE FISH. IF YOU DO THIS, YOU BETTER BE READY TO GET INTO GEAR THE MOMENT ONE OF THESE PUPPIES HITS THE WATER OR YOU WILL LEARN WHAT A REAL MONSTER BACKLASH IS!

SOME GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE LITTLE SQUIDS FOR THIS ARE THAT UNLIKE MOST PLASTIC BAITS, THEY ARE TOUGH AS HELL AND EACH WILL CATCH A PILE OF FISH BEFORE THEY GET TOO RIPPED UP TO FISH.

I HAVE SIZE CHOICES RUNNING FROM 2.75, TO 3.5, TO 4.25" TO MATCH THE HATCH WITH.

THEY COME IN A TOTAL OF 21 COLORS TO ENTERTAIN FISHERMEN WHO THINK THAT STUFF COUNTS.

THEY ARE INEXPENSIVE, RANGING FROM A BUCK APIECE TO LESS THAN TWO BUCKS FOR THE 6" ONES.

(IF ANYONE TELLS YOU THAT THEY SAW ME ON HODGES AND EL CAP AND A FEW OTHER SOCAL IMPOUNDMENTS TOSSING LITTLE THINGS THAT LOOKED A LOT LIKE THESE ON SCHOOLING BASS ON SHAD, TWITCHING WHATEVER THEY WERE AND CATCHING BASS AFTER BASS IS MAKING UP STORIES, YA KNOW (WINK)?)

MAN, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO BE CAREFUL HERE IN THE CAVE, OR TOO MANY FOLKS ARE GOING TO WIND UP FISHIN' AND CATCHIN', INSTEAD OF WHATEVER THE HELL THEY WANT TO CALL WHAT THEY ARE DOING BESIDES BURNING SHITLOADS OF FUEL AND KEEPING THE GUY ON THE BAIT BARGE HAPPY.

THE FINAL TEST IS THIS ONE...WHEN YOU NEVER, EVER STOP TO BUY LIVE BAIT AGAIN BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY DO NOT NEED IT. SOUND CRAZY? THAT'S THE FINAL TEST - WHEN IT DOESN'T!

FORGET THE FACT THAT YOU ARE GOING TO CATCH MORE FISH THAN EVER BEFORE...THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY YOU ARE GOING TO SAVE OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR THAT YOU WOULD OTHERWISE BE DROPPING INTO THE BAIT BARGE GUY'S POCKET (AND SOMETIMES HAVING TO KISS HIS ASS TO "GET THE GOOD STUFF"). GO AHEAD, FIGURE IT OUT! AND THEN REMEMBER THAT YOU WILL PROBABLY STILL BE USING TODAY'S SUPERBARS AND SPIDERS TEN FRIGGIN' YEARS FROM NOW. GO FIGURE THAT ONE OUT VERUS WHAT YOU WOULD HAVE SPENT ON BAIT, THEN YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO, RIGHT?

I CAN SEE IT NOW IF ENOUGH GUYS WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES....IT WILL BE PETA PEOPLE LINING UP AT THE BAIT BARGES TO BUY SARDINES AND 'CHOVIES TO TAKE THEM OUT AND RELEASE THEM WITH THEIR "SAVE SAMMY (SARDINE)" AND "LITTLE ANDY (ANCOVEY)" T-SHIRTS. THE BASS OUGHT TO LIKE THAT ONE!

I'LL HAVE TO COME BACK TO POST PICTURES. THIS DAMNED PROGRAM HASN'T BEEN ALLOWING ME TO DO THAT PART OF THE TIME LATELY. SHIT!

Looks like those would work just fine, more durable, mine are a bait per hook-up and they're a little spendy. I'll look in the catalog.

Free Andy, Free Andy....bwahahaha !!!

Do NOT put those little basstrix behind one of Fred's bars.
What do you want to do, catch a bunch of big tuna or something?
I think that those little plastics would be awesome on one of Fred's spiders.
I am going to pick up some of Fred's bars when I come out next month, and attach just the opposite--a thirteen inch trout bait. There are some 'girls' that I want to introduce that setup to at Perris.

I would like to get some micro trolling baits for my two dayer in July, if somebody would just give me a 'hand'.

HO, HO, HO, G-MAN! I'VE ALREADY GOT SOME GIANT BASS CHASERS DOING WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT IN A NUMBER OF LAKES. AND THEY ARE KICKING ASS! AND, BEING TYPICAL BIG BASS HOUNDS, THEY AIN'T SAYIN' NOTHIN'. OKAY BY ME AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT ANYWAY. SAME GUYS CREAMED EARLY SEASON, SHALLOW WATER FISH WITH REGULAR SUPERBARS UP TOP WITH "TROUT" CHASING THEM.

ONE GUY IS USING THE BELOW IN NINE AND TWELVE INCH SIZES AND SAYS HE CATCHES MORE FISH WITH THEM THAN HE DOES THE REGULATION STUFF. HMMMM. AND, OF COURSE, THERE'S A NINE INCH VERSION OF THAT ONE WITH THE HOOK IN IT AND 9 AND 11" VERSIONS OF THAT OTHER ONE DOWN THERE.

MY-OH-MY, WHEN ARE THOSE FRESHWATER GUYS EVER GOING TO LEARN THAT THOSE ARE SALTWATER LURES AND QUIT FOOLING AROUND WITH THEM IN THE FRESH? SO SILLY, HUH? SHIT, THE FISH KNOW THE DIFFERENCE! UH, DON'T THEY?

DON'T LIKE TO TROLL? LOAD THE HEAD UP WITH THE RIGHT WEIGHT. CAST. SINK ON PRIME STRUCTURE. HOP. SWIM. CHOP IT AND DROP IT (KINDA LIKE A SPINNERBAIT?), SWIM IT FAST FOR A SEC, CHOP AND DROP IT. "TIC". WUZZAT? HUNG UP? HMM, HANG IS MOVING! SET THE HOOK! TUNA, TUNA, TUNA! IN CASTAIC?

HMMMM.
