Well there are plus and minuses to all of them. I pesonally have a transom mount on my rig. It works perfectly fine and is similar to what it is used for as to what you have described. Mainly shallow water. Lowrance has all the information on there site that will help you get informed of the three choices. It comes down to a couple of factors and really what you prefer. Good luck.

Off shore deeper water requires a larger more powerful transducer usually a thru hull type. Lakes and inshore a transom mounted unit should work fine...

GET THE THRU HULL. WELL WORTH IT . MAKE SURE YOU GET A HIGH SPEED FAIRING WITH IT. THAT TRANS MOUNT IS BS. IF YOU HAVE AN OUTBOARD IT WILL PICK UP ENGINE VIB. I HAVE A LOWRANCE. I HAD THE TRANS MOUNT. JUST GOT THE THRU HULL. MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE. ALSO WITH THE THRU HULL I CAN GO UP TO ABOUT 40 MPH AND STILL THE TRANDUCER PICKS UP.50/200
