next time leave your rope around the prop and then call the harbor patrol, they like drunks in boats like the chp likes them on the hwy. personally the things that set me off aren't a question of legal or illegal, it's the rude and inconsiderate shit that they do that puts me over the edge. you did well, probably handled it better than i would have. see ya on the water... and i don't drink

Shit happens!
Whether it had anything to do with alcohol,is purely accusation.
A few years ago I wrapped my own net in my own prop, totally accidental. Its dark, wind and current flow can be swift at times.
I cant be the only one thats done this.

P.S.Try duct taping a 4 oz weight about 5 to 10 feet down from the buoy,it helps to prevent such incidents.Good luck next time.

At least it wasnt a sailboat that dragged your gear all the way back to the dock. Thats a real bitch also. It does happen alot unfortunatly, i have lost many hoops that just popped off due to line rubbing all the way through. You where lucky to get it back. Channel 16 for the coast gaurd get a description of said a hole and CF if pssible. Just think, hes putting his life and everyone around him in danger.

I am convinced that some people where born with there cabesa up there wazzo.

P.S. That turd bag was probably down below making a new drink.

Call the cops

If you're in Mission Bay call the Harbor Police or SDPD on Ch 16. I'm sure they have someone working nights to get these drunk A--Holes off the water. Yea, I've seen them too but usually during the day. Haven't been hooping yet.

i had a drunk ass guy at the white salmon river in wa. in sept. kept casting over evry buddys line, was drinking a big old bottle of whiskey. when i finally said some thing to him, he was maybe 30 and i was the next youngest guy at 52 so the old guys wouldn,t say any thing. so after he sawed of 3 of my salmon i had enough and the guy comes un rapped on me. takes a swing at me. i did kick box most my life, so i catch this guy with a back kick, he goes down and hes still yelling at me from the ground calling every nasty bad word you can think of besides octamom, he starts to get up and ii grab him by the legs and i am dunking him in and out the river head first. i have completly lost it by know. this indain runs over and tells me stop your going to kill him. so i finally come to my senses and stop. soon the police show up and this guys on the ground yelling still even at the cops. all the old daily fishing guys tell the cops that he attacked me and he was yelling threats at every body. so they took him off to jail and i fished with theold guys till i got my 2 salmon limit and left. so i know how you feel and suprized you didn,t drown this asshole. its people like these that ruin fun for all in every day life. i am glad i didn,t have the wife with me , that would have been a worse beating to me than the drunk could have dished out. next time i will try and call the cops asap. but it is fun to cheerfully beat the assholes like that to a pulp.

It's a new form of lobster fishing..."Alchihooping". It's practiced around most breakwaters and jetties. Most famous spots are O'side harbor where the "fisherman" can boat up to a bar and rest while still "fishing" for lobster.?

Actually, Mission Bay is the Harbor Patrol. SD Bay is the Harbor Police...Had this explained to me when I was a kid and we were broken down in the shipping channel of SD Bay...Meanwhile a freighter was bearing down on us...The distinction can be very important in such a situation...
Most, if not all of the lobster hooping/diving horror stories occur along the jetties...Don't know if your boat is safe outside the bays, but, me and my circle of hoopin/diving friends have never had a problem outside the bays...
