good outboard guy??

I need to have the outboard on my boat tuned up and carbs(2)rebuilt.
It's a mid 80's merc.80 horse. Anyone know a good guy that can help and not rip me a new one on costs.
I understand it costs big$$ but so long as I don't overpay
thanks guys.

The guy I use is way Honest. Big $$$$$ but honest..

try Rick at Ccoast outboards.. 619-498-1220

He's taken care of my boat from the start... won't take it anywhere else now.

I talked to the guy and he wants $750 when Boats U.S will do it for $500.
He sounded like he knew what he was talking about though

Just trying to save a buck which will probably cost me more in the end!
still kickin it around. Does Ccoast have a guarantee on their work? I forgot to ask.

Warranty yes.

Yes he does warrant his work, but like others have said...He is freaking expensive! Good guy an all, but I just simply can't afford to use him anymore. He sometimes over do the work in my opinion...some people like that, and some don't. I hate to pay for unneccessary parts. If you got the dough, then go for it. Any type of boat work is expensive so now that I own my own crib, I tend to think myself as a master mechanic. You know those carbs are really easy to rebuild! I would try to do as much of the work as possible before taking it in, such as rebuild the carbs, new plugs, etc to save the dough. Tune ups are expensive thou!!!

The carbs are easy yes,but to link and sync the carbs is a different story. The linkage is critical and you need vacuum tubes to get the carbs dialed in.You can get it kind of close without these tools but the linkage runs your shift, stator timing and fuel delivery all at the same time.

Yea, I won't sugarcoat the $$$ factor.. it's costly! My whole gig is that when I'm out 70 miles I don't want one of my motors takeing ashit because I wanted to save a hundred or so..

But yea... I see your point... good luck with it... just wish I was a little more mechanically inclined.
