Hey guys, first thread...I'm a newbie boat owner and I just wanted some tips on what is required by the coast guard to have on the boat. I know life jackets, fire extinguisher, throwable flotation device, horn. Anything else? Thanks.

| Beer, fishing gear, Beer, fishing license, Beer, gaff, I did say Beer right? Sounds like you have everything but it varies from boat size, so I would contact the Coast Guard or look for the regs. The first time they board your boat, will most likely be a warning, oh yeah just kidding about all the beer be safe, you’re a, “rookie.” USPS (United States Power Squadrons) boating course is the best advice I can give you. They’ll teach you all the basics on boating, helps with your insurance and you won’t get the all the time by the old salts.

Right on. Thanks for the tips. I'm partnered up with my cousin who has had a boat as long as I can remember, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here.

This isn't necessary but, I always carry an extra battery and prop. I just don't want to take the chance.
