Sand in second to last coat of paint. Cheap? Yeah, but very effective.
Saw a canned "paint on tread" at Ace HArdware last night. Label said "for Marine use." I'll take a look at it.

This is it.:
Homax Products - Tile/Flooring - Tread-Tex Spray
OR
Homax Products - Tile/Flooring - Stop Slip

I've used sand before as well- I put on one coat of paint, let dry. Then mask off the area so it looks nice, not like you just threw some shit around. Then roll the unmasked area and throw down sand to your liking, but go lightly otherwise it'll clump up and look like shit. Once that's dry, sweep and vacuum the deck cmpletely clean, and follow up with another 1-2 light coats of paint to lock in the sand.

OR if you want to get fancy, although I havent done it, I've thought about taking a piece of 2x4 foot plastic they use to diffuse the light in flourescent light fixtures, waxing it, and then laying down thickened resin followed by a layer of matt. Once dry, cut to shape you need and epoxy the sheet on. If done right, it "should" look pretty good.

So give us the straight poop!

I'd like to take a good look at the bottom one. The JASCO Slip Stop.

UV stabilized?
Surface prep needed?

Where to buy inexpensively? The ACE HArdware had the Tread Tex spray stuff for $10.99 a can! Waaay too much!!

Stop Slip is a pretty good product. Very hard when dry, heavily textured ie silica. (sand to most of you)
Will stick to darn near anything as long as the surface is clean and dry. NOT FLEXIBLE. I would suggest to use it for areas of heavy traffic when you want that extra grip as it is a thick paste type material.
Make a template of tape to apply in strips or squares (kind of like the no skid tape strips would look)
You can paint over it. Comes with an applicator tool, wet the tool and spread out over your taped area, then remove the tape when the product is still wet.
Drys quickly, as it is a water based compound. Do not add water to thin, you will lose the binder ratio and it will not hold up as well . NOTE, most products are not designed to be thinned as they are formulated to use as is from the container.
I had several areas in our warehouse placed on wood and concrete that was run over by trucks, forklifts etc. Still holding up.
Use on areas of your boat when you want extra non skid. Steps and areas on and off the boat.

Can't find either product here in Gilbert area. Now what?
Who to order from?

Also, your examples are indoors. Is it UV stabilized?

I've used Epifanes one-part with poly balls in it for 5 years. Non-skid but does not hurt barefeet. One qt can covers the entire deck of my 21'WA boat. I apply a fresh coat each year. i paint out of the can with a throw away brush. Takes less than an hour. Prep deck, clean up and thin using mineral spirits only. I do not walk on it for two days and no fishing for a week. that allows the coating to outgas and get real hard.

Epifanes Non-Skid Deck Coating
