thinking of installing outriggers on my 26ft striper. Don't want to spend a lot of money as I will be only using during the Tuna season.

How many lines do you want to run for tuna? With flatline clips on the engine cover and outrodders, I run 6 on the surface and can run two more with downplanes or downriggers. It makes a heck of a spread, especially solo or even with two anglers.

i have used the seachoice 3 part 15' telescoping outriggers for the last 2 seasons without complaint. keep in mind they are not permanantly installed. they get cleaned and stowed after every trip. the seachoice line kit is a waste $$ though.

I had them on my last boat and they worked ok for what they cost. The bad- in rough seas they can collapse closed, and I did have to re-solder on a couple of the guides back on because of that. The good- they will work for the $120 you can get them for on ebay.

I'd go with Precision, or Pompanette. I have 15' stiff Precision outriggers on my Whaler, and 12' mediums on my Shamrock. I got my 12'ers here on BD Classifieds for $300.00 with the mounts. Look around... you'll find a quality set of used .
