Tried the swap and no change on the spark plug. Still weak and the fuel seems to be running rich because of the smell and thick white smoke.

you need to test things, stop hunting around before you blow the motor up
buy a shop manual and i can guide you through it

do a simple test. remove the air box and stick your fingers in the carb throat or disconnect the choke linkage and work the choke on that carb (unless it has a fuel choke not a mechanical choke). sounds to me like you have a fuel problem not a spark problem. the cylinder should pick up a little when you do this if so the carb is blocked or out of sync. for these issues you need help. dont buy a generic manual they are worthless and often wrong.

Thanks, I'll give this a try. I did have all three carbs rebuilt recently and the reeds replaced.
