| boat gas, "storage" question .....
yeah, yeah, give me shit .... due to circustances "beyond my sane control" the boat has sat for a season in the driveway ..... two questions prior to getting on the water ...
1) what does one do with old gas these days (12 gallons) ? (I don't own a lawnmower, only a chipper and it runs way too long on each tank ......)
2) what's basic advice on prior to cranking the motor after "sitting", change the plugs, oil, what else ? (4 stroke 70 horse Evinrude)
and yes, charge the battery ......
thanks, and Happy Holidays !!

thanks, and Happy Holidays !! | Not an outboard or marine expert by any means.. But you want to drain the old gas out of the the system so you don't suck crap from the decomposing gasoline into the injectors or carbs...

Lubricate the rings and 2. get some fuel up into the carbs. Once you feel there is sufficient amounts of fuel up then put the plugs back in and fire that puppy off.
I am no expert by any means but this is pretty basic for any motor that has sat for a prolonged period of time.
Last but not least watch to ensure the water pump is cranking out water.
Good luck.

Been there, done that! As far as the fuel's concerned; treat the fuel with Startron enzyme fuel treatment and their tank cleaner, top off with clean fuel, get some extra filters (cause you'll need them), and go fishing!

Next time you gona let it sit for a few months add some Stabil to the tank(s) and fill it up with gas. You can add stabil to any amount over 1gal. I believe it will hold it for twelve months all tho I wouldn't use gas that has sat so long.
I start my motors every so often and let them run till they warm up to keep things lubed up.
Then after I have ran one tank with Stabil (50gal) at the start of the season, I change the fuel filter. I always keep a spare filter on the boat.
