Fuel/Fuel Tank Problems.

Hey All,

I have an old Luhrs 32’ that was repowered about 5-7 years ago with 350 Chevy’s (before the first ‘best day of boat ownership’). At that time two 100 gal aluminum fuel tanks were placed in and they are showing their age. The starboard tank has developed a leak and is now out of service. Does anyone know of a product that can be placed in the tank to seal leaks? To remove the tank for repair or replacement requires removing the engine. The port tank is showing possibly water and particle contamination symptoms. Does anyone know of an outfit that will polish gasoline tanks or is there a good chemical solution? I have placed an inline filter behind the water separator and before the carburetor filter for additional filtration. I am still finding a lot of water in the separators, particles in the fuel filters (changing both very frequently), and am having fuel starvation issues on only the port engine at high RPM. I’m starting to loss a lot of hair (and Jim Beam)!! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Fuel/Fuel Tank Problems

IMHO, You need to use you boat more.
Addition of a fuel dry (alcohol) will help remove the water from your new tanks.
Keeping the tanks close to full will also reduce the condensation, which is most likely the source of the water.
