I think I just called the local USCG Aux. in my area and arranged my inspection. Try that if the link does not work. Here is a link to what they will look for, they will not give you a citation however they will tell you what you are missing and will not give you a sticker until you have them... Re: USCG is bored and....

A little trivia from our last CG inspection:

An inflatable PFD does NOT count as a PFD if you aren't wearing it at the time. We had regular PFDs on board too so we were cool, but I had no idea inflatables only counted if you were wearing them.

And no, I'm not talking about my precious Hilde.

Re: USCG is bored and....

They stopped us Thursday night while we were hooping. They asked when was the last time we were boarded and I told him we never had been and invited him to come aboard. Ended up they didn't.
They told us that the N. Wall was a restricted area and due to recent threats they were now enforcing that. Understandable.
They gave us plenty of time to get our hoops and said we could fish the area S of the Queens Gate, which we did (stinky stanky skunked).
We took the 13 week USCG course and I knew we had everything in order.
The USCG Aux vessel inspection is a great idea and even though I don't put stickers on my girl, I would display theirs.
I think something must have come down from command, which is why we are seeing more activity. That's how it usually works.
Nostrovia,
Dave

I think it's actually a function of the classification of the inflatible PFD. Most are classified as Type V, which requires the vest to be worn as per manufacturer's instructions in order to count. There are some (not many) inflatible PFDs that are classified as Type III and Type I, and it is my understanding that these do not have to be worn in order to count.

Re: USCG is bored and....

I read somewhere that the USCG is attempting to enact a law that would require ALL boaters to wear pfd's at ALL times. Any else hear this?

Sounds like something Kollyforneah (the nanny state) would do.
