Boat theft(s) inland S.D.

Unfortunately, this is how I'm spending the time starting my first Bd thread. I thought I would throw it out there with an attempt at networking and if nothing else, a little 411 to all Bd'ers that there are active scum-bags targeting BOATS in our town.

On this last Tues. at 10:45am the following happened. My friend Mike Poulson is working on a concrete pour in Lakeside around 6 blocks from his house. His neighbor across the street from him calls his (Mike's) cel phone and says "I don't recognize the car or guys that are hooking up your boat right now". Mike tells the neighbor to try and stop the guys or give chase to help out. Mike can hear tires screeching from the tow vehicle while on the phone with his friend. Neighbor gets car keys, gets in and takes off. Theres one way out of this area and T's. Neighbor gets to the T, doesn't see the bad guys, decides to go right, bad guys must have went left. "Gone". During this happening, Mike had hung up with the neighbor, and called 911. He tells dispatch his boat was being stolen as they spoke. As Mike rushes toward his house he pulls up to see no boat, no neighbor and a police helicopter over his house. The bird flies all around looking (with police cars too) and Mike starts calling all the friends. Fresh crime with everyone looking all within like 10 minutes with no results. The police figure the boat didn't go but 5 miles from the house.

I get the call at about 11:30am and I start calling all the people in the boat industry of which I work, to keep a look out. I finally get a hold of Mike who is bummed beyond words. His Insurance company dropped him like 7 weeks ago because he had put a modified 300 merc on the boat. His Insurance evidently won't insure this type of air entrapment hull of this length, with this kind of horsepower. His broker was searching for a new company but as it turns out, not soon enough.

Mike, being a guy without an enemy in the world (known him for 15 years) has a friend that works in the auto theft task force and is assisting in the investigation. He says (the officer) that these guys are stealing boats (like 5 in the last month) around town and stipping them of the e-bay parts and dumping hull with trailer in the parking lots at local casinos.

A few days have passed and Mike finds out that another neighbor had purchased some crazy high tech security system complete with outside video cameras. Mike tied in with him and they searched through to the correct time, low a behold a picture of the suspects car driving down the street. He gives it to the police but the pixels weren't sharp enough to catch the plate #.

The officer e-mailed me the pics of the suspects car and also the boat on the shoreline. Cops blurred out the momma's sorry guys. It's not much but maybe something will surface. If anyone hears anything that leads authorities to this boat and it is returned to the owner, Mike says they will be $1000.00 richer.

The very next night (and I live 3 blocks from Mike) Weds., I was doing paperwork late (quarter to one) and I went out to get my wallet and briefcase from the truck in MY driveway; where I also keep both of my boats. I caught a truck that was running, across the street where there is just an embankment (no homes.) Truck was blacked out and as soon as I opened the door, he bolts and never turned on his lights (wtf?)

Lock up those boats guys. As I've typed this, I just received a call from a friend who says Ali has posted something about stolen boats. I don't know if this is redundant to Ali's or not but here are some pix of the above story never the less. Thanks for the ear and if you hear anything pm me please. Otherwise if these guys are caught it should be open season on them AND the BUGS!
PS-Having trouble uploading the pic of the suspect vehicle. Will try again tomorrow. Thanks.

Re: Boat theft(s) inland S.D.

I had this boat built back a few years ago and then sold it to my good friend Mike a few years after. He loved this boat and would like it back. So heads up on this fucker because it would be great to get it back. The day he had it ripped off I got a call within a hour or two and went out looking for it. I went threw a tank O'gas doing it. I have talked to all my P.D. friends and they have said that there is a big boat theft ring going on around S.D.that they have not seen in years and that includes fishing boats also. They can sell motors and parts with eezzz so LOCK YOUR SHIT UP REEEAAALL F'ING GOOOOD. So please take a good look at this boat because it is a "one of a kind" and if you have info on it contact the C.H.P. or local Police.

Re: Boat theft(s) inland S.D.

If an EPRIB had a feature where it could be activated buy satalite, that would locate where the boats location is pretty fast.

I agree. A good close up on chanel 10 news of a hand being chopped off... would end this problem forever.

Thank you for looking out, and the many that read this thread guys. Mike is grateful.
