Oil Change

I been hangin with the Papa jew too long.

At the beignning of the season I changed my oil, I was doing other work so I sent EdTheLingCodKillinMotherFucker down to get oil and a filter. He came back with a reciept for $56.00

I have a 2003 Yamaha 225 4 stroke.

Last week I went to Napa, who cross referenced the Yamaha number, with one Napa manufactured themselves.

The replacement Napa filter was like 6 bucks instead of $25 or whatever it was. I bought good Castro oil for 3 bucks a quart, so my total was $24.00

The actual cross reference Napa filter number is 18-7906. The Napa I was in did not have 1 in stock, and I wanted to put the oil back in my motor right freakin now, not in 3 days, so I bought a NapaGold 1348. I believe the only difference is a flat faced gasket vs an O ring. The face where the filter snugs was plenty wide enough to take the flat gasket vs the O ring.

Anyway, PapaJ, who never pays retail for ANYTHING, instructed me in the ways of Jewdom and off I went

Re: Oil Change

Re: Oil Change

JUst and FYI the yamaha filters have a different type of filter material than most filters , that's one reason they cost more... there a filter comparison on the hull truth .com , as your not the only one that's complains about the price of yamie filters. I have twins so I feel your pain..... and saving money is not being a "jew" everyone regardles of natioanlity likes to save money.... I'm not jewish either so I took no offense...but some one might....

Re: Oil Change

What's interesting is what Yamaha tech recommend every 100 hours in addition to the oil change and lower unit fluid.

Fuel cartridge filter at motor, o-ring for fuel cartridge where the clear plastic cover tightens into motor, bronze washers on oil plug, crush gaskets for fill and drain plugs for lower.........

By the time you walk out of there, you feel llke Jodie Foster on top of a pinball machine.....

An the cost of the new fuel filter (tall boys) are enough to drive you mad every 50 hours........
