Re: How to keep your saltwater boat looking new!

Forgot to a few things...

1. All the window zip ups I ran chap stick along the teeth. Makes a big difference, everything zipped up nice and easy. Also gives a little protection against corrosion

2. Black Rails - I had a bunch of scuff marks from where the black rub rails along the outside of the boat hit the dock or worse. I tried a bunch of cleaners, none worked except for magic erasers from mr clean. Took the white spots off nicely. Just wet them, and scrub the white marks with the white side

3. Wax the deck. The final step was to mist the deck. Spray 3-6 sprays of woody wax on the deck, get a big soft paint brush, and brush in the woody wax all over the deck. Then just take the host on full power and spray the deck until it's not slippery. That will leave a nice protection on for 3-4 trips so blood or stains come off super easy.

For the zippers on the boat, I've used this stuff:
NRS - McNett Zip Tech

It's a wax that is made for the zippers on wetsuits and booties.
Usually found at dive shops and will stay on the zippers longer than 'Chapstick' will.

I'm sure glad I don't have a pretty boat anymore - that is way too much work for me!

Jim,
Your boat looks great!
I just ordered the Porter Cable 7424 to touch her up between detailings.
Can't wait to get her cleaned up.
Thanks for the great information!
John

Great post, the boat looks awesome.

Woody Wax is the shit. Blood and anything liquid just bead up and wash off. I started using it on the prop and rails, working good so far.
