Everyone is right, it's all about your needs. I needed something the family could enjoy... |

Name: Steve Vessel: 28' Skipjack Location: Murietta Job:fireMAN | Re: Center Console, Walk Around, Cuddy, or Full? I have had them all, As AZ says, It all depends on what you plan on using them for. Just fishing, or an all around family boat. Lets see. I had a 21' Cuddy..."piece O shit" in my opinion. No room for fishing, 3 adults and it was crowded as hell. 22' Bayrunner center consol...loved it, wish I had never sold that boat, Was a very economical boat to run. 90HP 2-stroke 27 mph average and fish all day long running hard used maybe 10-12 gal of fuel. Easy to tow, very light and roomy. 25 FG center consol, Full Tuna Tower with controls, Another boat that I wish I would have kept and vested more time and money. Miss it. And of course, the grand daddy of em all.....the 28' Skip Jack that I just sold. Best all around boat ever for function, fishibility and all around use. Comfortable, trailerable and sea worthy. Just not very economical with gas engines. But I would own another if the right one came along. I like the 25's alot. The one two adds previous is a good looking boat. I will never buy a boat with plans to do a conversion again unless it's a single eng removal and replace. It must be a diesel. I will just kick it and wait till the sellers get hungry enough to sell. It's comming. Anyway, I guess I am saying to fish for the day...CC is the way to go for economy and fishability, Over nighting....24' or above, the only models with cock pit space in my opinion but I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule. Long trips and you will appreciate that berth to catch a little nap every once in awhile.

The Davis Bahia is a center console with a nice half cabin to keep warm and dry. Full canvass in winter and it is no different than a full cabin. Open it up in summer and it's a center console again. With room to sleep 3-4 adults, microwave etc.... Of course I own one so my opinion may not count......

I have both boats...a big ass center console and a 32 Carolina Classic. The big ass CC is for sale...fire sale...If you want a boat with 3 motors that hauls ass and is pretty damn reliable let me know. It's a fun ride and very dry but my kids freeze thier arses off and the wife won't go on it.
Having had both boats I prefer having a place to catch a nap, make a cup of coffee, fix a kids cuisine, and then clean up all the mac and cheese. Actually it is really nice to make an overnight run and be able to have a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of coffee.

It will never be long enough nor wide enough, it could always go faster farther longer and if shit was not so expensive. Each time you launch you will see at least a couple that would look much better under your feet and of course be more fitting parked in you driveway. Then once you trailer you will wish you could just slip it...but that would require a bigger boat, longer wider driveway attached to new home with adequate room for boat storage so you don't have to pay incredibly rediculous storage fees and of course a new job or lottery winnings to afford same! Hope your lucky at the lotto. Of course we can't even begin discussing all the options with re: to the electronics package that you will need to confuse the fish into surrendering.Have fun....we all did and still do !!!

Name: Emmanuel Age: 26 Vessel: 2000 SEA FOX 21' WALKAROUND Location: Oceanside Job:USMC | When i first purchased my boat i thought i couldnt live with out the cuddy, but now i think it just gets in the way especially when your trying to walk to the front of the boat and the fish your on starts to run and you almost fall off the boat. There are some walkarounds that have nice wide layouts but if i had my choice i would go center console with a forward berth kinda like this.

I was asked about freshwater, "kitchen area", and number of days I actually spend on the thing. I overnight on my boat more than just day trips so that was not an issue.
I'll add that information I had heard about other things turned out to not be true. Luckily, it did not affect me or any of my deductions, I was just asking questions. I have friends that are also going through it. One guy is down over $49K.
BTW, I'm not sure "plenty" is accurate. I know there are a couple but they are normally HUGE center consoles. Many in the 30+ foot range do not offer a bed.

I like that I can go completely around if I'm fighting a fish, and it's nice to get out of the weather too. Don't get me wrong, I'll hoop all night long but I don't want to sleep freezing my ass off on an open deck. If I didn't do frequent overnighters then a CC would be the ticket. |

Had both and love the room that the Parker 2500 series offers.
I get 2.3 miles per gallon and hold 174 gallons for well over a 350 mile range.
The Parkers are so open that I have a 65 gallon/3 full scoop tank.
Tons of room.
Oh by the way.
Mine is for sale.
Lost my job and need to off it.
Paid 75k with all the electronics and stuff 2 years ago and have added another 8k in custome boat covers, down riggers, out riggers, bait pumps, claw anchor, chain and rope.
Boat is cleaner then the ones Sundance has on their show room floor. Ask Joel, he will tell you.
Letting it go for 49k and it has a full tank of gas.
Let me know.
