LOW OIL FALSE ALARM

I ran my main oil tank low, and the alarm went off{4 beeps continuously}. I put 2 gallons of oil in the tank. I still get 4 beeps, but its about every couple minutes now. I have a 225 Merc Optimax. Anybody got any ideas on how stop the false alarm. Also the tank on the engine was full when the main tank went dry, so both tanks are full.

Call Bruce at Marshall Marine in Spring Valley.

He's the Merc Guru.

Re: LOW OIL FALSE ALARM

Thanks Gato. I know Bruce from way back when. I'm having him service my motor. He was over $200.00 cheaper than the guy who was going to do the work. He gave me a good idea of how to fix my false alarms.

Re: LOW OIL FALSE ALARM

Disconnect the sensor wire (light blue w/black stripe?) coming from the tank and see if that kills the alarm. I got my boat back from Bruce last week, still waiting to get it wet. Thanks to The Gato for the info on Bruce, he gets all my business now.

Re: LOW OIL FALSE ALARM

I took the boat out tonight. Went to the Whistler, man it's f'n rough out. I followed Bruce's advice, and no more false alarms. A simple fix, and no more beeps.

actually my tank on the engine went almost dry before the alarm went off. i filled both tanks and i still get the beeps. i was told to overfill the tank on the engine, and screw the cap down tight by hand. i put a bunch of towels down to sopp up the excess oil. it worked for me, hope it works for you.
