Re: TRIM TAB SIZING HELP?

Go to bennett's website. The biggest possible is what they told me when I called them. The bigger they are, the more responsive they will be. I took off 12x10's and put on 18x12's. Made a world of difference in how my boat handles.

Re: TRIM TAB SIZING HELP?

I have a lot of on the water experience with this and many boats........THE BIGGER THE BETTER. Also you might consider lanyard cables from the two outside corners back to the boat. This helps to absorb some of the pressure when backing down. Have the lanyards tight when fully extended. I lost one tab last season with lanyards. I use the largest size clam shell zincs and leave the tabs unpainted. You might consider a strip of wood between the flange and the boat for the curve in the fiberglass.

Put Bennett 12X18's on our 24ft Flybridge Skippy "Hanna" and we love them. Makes all the difference in the world. This is one time Bigger is Better.

Curtis........

The boat Hanna.......

12 x 24 dropfins on mine. They RULE. Dramatic change over stock.

Re: TRIM TAB SIZING HELP?

Make sure you put the trim tabs all the way up in a following sea. The skippies don't handle particularly well in a following sea and big trim tabs trimmed down make the problem even worse. Other than that, bigger is better.

Re: TRIM TAB SIZING HELP?

I was always told the biggest that will fit. However, you also need to consider where they end up in relation to your prop. Too close to the prop and the turbulence will cause prop cavitation or losing its bite.

I am in the process of changing out 12x8s to 14x11s. I have room for 18x11s but they would be too close to the prop for me.

Good luck.
