...and how praytell, does this help with changing the impeller??

as far as I know, they're aren't too many outboard motors out there that have a lower unit "oil/seawater" mix when you run them. The oil is in its own separate housing

Lower unit oil stays where it belongs when you remove the Lower unit. No need to drain it unless you want to add that in as an additional maintenance task.

Thanks for the step by step. Cool. Although, my Yamaha manual doesn't say anything about the beer..?

That's good to see. I've got to start doing some thing other than just changing the drive oil on mine. I hear the impeller for my 4.2 ltr Cummins is $140 or so.

Nice PermaTrim by the way. I was just out on the company boat Friday and was again amazed at the difference those things make. I love the one on my boat!

Make sure the impeller fins are slanted the proper direction for the shaft rotation. While the prop is off remove the thrust washer and check for fishing line on the prop shaft. That stuff will tear up the seal behind. Good tutorial.

Great post, did that perma-trim affect your warranty at all? I think one would be a great thing for my boat

Not sure?? I added the permatrim after my warranty expired. It has been hands down the best foil I've ever used and worth every cent!

Installing a Permatrim will not alter the warranty on any motor.
