Opinions on Century Boats

Hello All,

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a 2006 Century 2200 walk around cuddy. I know Century is owned by Yamaha and in the past (before being owned by Yamaha) Century boats have a questionable reputation for quality.

I just can't find much information about the 2005-2007 Century boats.

Anyone own a newer (2005 - 2007) Century or the specific 2200 WA I am considering that can provide some insight into Century's current quality?

Thanks,

Neal

Ask the same question on Boating & Fishing Forum - The Hull Truth

That's more of an east coast boat. Not a lot of them over here.

Re: Opinions on Century Boats

What else have you looked at to compare?
It took me about a year before I finally choose my boat. Very intense at times. When I checked the WAs I looked at mainly Striper and Wellcraft. Both local dealers for me. I also went to 3 boat shows.
There was a post re Century Boats about a week ago. http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/ge...ury-boats.html
After I read it I did a BoatTrader search and found some prices that way which I am sure the dealer could work with. Someone on BD said they were priced right. I found the prices the same as I was looking at with the others. There is a dealer in Hunt. Beach too. They should be a hit on the West coast for sure.
I haven't seen them but Yamaha makes great stuff. They look great on their website but that's what manufacturers websites are for.
Also check out the Parker WA. I got the pilot after much much consideration. I know... I know you can button up the WA with eisenglass but I liked the pilot.
Decisions, decisions!
I don't mean to pimp the Parkers but PM me if you want my input on'em.
Taking the plunge is a great thing. My only regret is I didn't do it 10 years ago.
Good luck and have fun shopping.

My buddy picks up his Century 26' WA from Razor Yachts up in Huntington next Saturday. He took it for a test run this weekend and said it was a sick boat!

Wow! That was quick. How long from purchase to delivery time?

Re: Opinions on Century Boats

Century Boats has been around since the early 70s as far as I know.

My Father In Law gave me the boat he used for close to 20 years...a 1976 Century 19fter..It was a great boat, Made for fresh water, But didnt stop me from using it in SD Bay and the Kelp beds. But that was over 10 years ago.

That boat was Top Quality all the way. Used Hard for over 25 years. Not sure if the new ones are of the same quality.

I believe it was one already on their lot. Took it for a sea trial this past Saturday and they are doing the electronics install and rigging this week and should have it ready on Saturday.

The salesman also said they can't keep the 26' around long enough but are having trouble getting rid of the 24' and smaller. Once they sell the last 24' it will be orders only on those. I think folks are going right for the 26' with enclosed head.

When I upgrade my Striper I am seriously considering a Century.

Re: Opinions on Century Boats

I'm EXTREMELY happy with the Century 18' cc we recently picked up from Razor Yachts in HB.
The quality & attention to detail seem far superior to the seaswirl I just sold.

All 3 of the Century models I've ridden have been extremely impressive, dry rides. Good luck on your decision!
