Re: Can I get some advice?

Do you guys have opinions on direct drive? The Outerbanks I have looked at have been direct drive. I've been told it's much better fuel consumption, but having a rudder seems like a negative to me.

BTW If you have suggestions beside the Outerbanks and the Navigator in the 60K range let me know. Needs to be pilothouse though.

Thanks

Direct drive is great, no problems with rudder. Looked at Shamrocks? Why PH and not Flybridge? FB's really help when looking for paddys.

The pilothouse lets us drive from inside when it's uncomfortable outside. The 2nd station above the pilothouse is good for paddy spotting

I have looked at some Shamrocks and personally I just liked the Blackman Outerbanks and the Sea Sport better (not that there is anything worng with the shamrock).

You must have seen this one. At least it's not too far to look. Price seems low, so buyer beware.

Eric,
Yeah I have seen that boat. Thanks for the link though. After getting opinions on this thread I'm leaning more heavily towward the Outerbanks, or at least something that has comperable cockpit space (w/o the engine hatch)

Ummmmmm Frank, the price is 55k...my BMW is in the Trader for $9500 so I'd let you have it for 15k cash.

Re: Can I get some advice?

Great ideas. Mine will have an engine cover to work around for sure. And It WILL be in the way. But like the others have said, to get rid of it means a shallower deck and a higher ride in rough water.

My reasons are that I will be taking my boat to Mex, and getting outboard parts there for current engines is not easy. BBC Merc stuff is everywhere.

Great topic!

Thanks guys!

DG
