| installing offshore bait tank---need suggestions
My installation dude is going to Mexico to have fun in the sun and kill fish for a week, so I might have to tackle the job myself ......He's probably gonna still answer most of my questions, but I thought some of you guys might have experience with this as well....
1. My tank is a 30 gallon oval model-----how many brackets should I use on it to make it a rock-solid fixture on the deck? I'm thinking six but I admittedly don't know what the hell I'm doing.
2. The boat is a 17' Parker CC....For those of you who own things like this, where do you run your water discharge?-----through the transom or though the hull below the gunwale by the stern?
3. Guess I have to drill a hole in the bottom for a through-hull----I know brass is the only way to go, but I need this to be done right and thought someone out there could keep me from screwing up before I get to the "@#$#@$#@---what did I just do?" point.
4. I"m putting a 24'' pedistal in for my fatman Todd chair------I think I can reach in to through bolt the pedistal----anyone know what I should use for a backing plate or even if one is necessary (beyond merely using big washers)?

1. Just use the brackets that randy provides with the tank. I've got the 45 gal. tank and mine is way solid.
2. I plumbed mine under the deck and out the port side at water line.
3. I've done all mine Chuck, i'd be more than happy to come over and help. Muy importante, when going threw with the hole saw. hit the gel coat in reverse first to minimize chipping.
4. don't know nothing about that shit. Haven't needed to do it yet.
Give me a call if you want some help you fat ass old f*.*er

| If the bolts aren't going through anything substantial, like deck support beams, I would put a piece of starboard underneath the deck to help distribute the stress.

| backing plate
You can also use a piece of aluminum - 1/4" works fine-light and strong!
Mot's has the right idea for the b-tank install.

My Parker has the Offshore tank too and it is awesome. The six brackets should hold it fine. I'd also lay a fat bead of 3M 5200 caulk under and around the tank, just for insurance. The thru hulls are pretty easy once you make sure you have it where you want it. You will want yours directly underneath the bilge hatch. That way you can easily access your pump and it will be under the deck out of the way. Cover your gel coat with tape first to keep it from splintering and use a brand new, sharp bit. Drill through the tape. My exhaust hose also runs under the deck and spills out through the transom in the bilge area. There is a one way, rubber flapper valve thing that only lets water out and not in. Again, this way your outflow hose is under the deck and out of the way. Not to mention it looks cleaner. You'd be welcome to come take a look at it if you want some ideas.

Not sure if you want to add to your work list but..........now is the time to install a light at the bottom of the tank. Randy has them and they work great. He also has some cool Starboard lid/cutting board covers that are pre-fit.
