Bait tank

I've just about got the engine rebuilt, so one of the next projects is the bait tank. I've got a tank already built and it will go up against the house on the port side. I've got a plan for the big overflow drain and the inlet from the pump, but I'm not sure what to do about a drain for after the bait is gone and you are on your way home. Is it normal just to pump out the rest of the water requiring another bait pump or ? I'm already poking one big hole in the side of the hull for the overflow drain, which is a foot and a half off the deck, which is well above the water line. What about the bottom drain? Thanks

Re: Bait tank

Steve, I also have a skipjack 20F/B for my 2nd boat. I mounted an offshore tank in front of the engine hatch and yes I drilled a 2inch hole in the side of the boat right at the water line I have never had a problem due to the head pressure. I run a surflow 1100 but will be running a rule1600 from now on due to noise and amp draw. Make sure you use brass on all your thru hulls at or below the water line.
