| Adding a String Ray
Question. I am wondering if adding a Sting Ray will add to the performance even though I already have Trim Tabs. Boat is a 21' SeaSwirl /w/ 200 HP. Thanks, Jack

The PermaTrim is supposed to be a better way to go. I'm trying to get one on a workboat first to see how they work. Almost all of the feedback on TheHullTruth about these things is positive. Even the guys that lost a little topspeed liked what they did for them everywhere else. Boating & Fishing Forum - Permatrim Marine Ltd – Hydrofoils

I've had permas on 3 different boats now and I'm putting one on my current boat.
Hands down the cheapest performance upgrade I've ever performed.
They direct all the "rooster tail" down for more thrust, lower planing speeds and stops porpoising.

Hey Ali, have you ever lost top-speed with them? Not that I get to do 45mph very often but it's fun when I can.

Not that I've ever noticed.
I'd still trade 5mph of top end for the other benefits if I did lose speed.

Jack,
I am no longer the USA distributor for Permatrim. A great product by the way that does all that it is advertised to do. The top end loss is usually with cats and is minimal when it does occur.
It got to be too much for me so we transferred the distributorship to Shipyard Island Marina (SIM). Call Andy Jr on 1-800-213-3323 or email him off The Hull Truth vendor forum, he is under SIM.
You won't be dissapppointed with a Permatrim. If you are there is a money back guarantee.

Thanks John, I'll look into it. Just curious, do they add to what I already have, Trim Tabs? Jack

Jack,
Yes, they add. You'll spend a lot less time adjusting those tabs. In fact you'll probably only use them to trim the boat side to side.

Thanks John. Just out of curiousity, what is the cost of Permatrim?

They vary in price. Contact SIM. I was quoted just over $200 for my boat. I'm still on the fence though. It's got a money back guarantee but it would leave me with 10 holes in my Cav plate.
