I'm looking for a new mechanic for my 97 Johnson 175 Oceanrunner. I'm located in El Cajon. I'll take the boat as far as I have to, if I could only find a good Johnson O/B mechanic.

I personally have not been treated very well at Sunset Marine. Maybe they have more work than they can handle. When I'm paying someone for a service, I expect them to treat me alot better than they do.
Thanks for the reply though, maybe you have had better luck with them than most people I've talk with.

I too have had problems with the El Cajon store. He is the man and the only guy around here that I will let touch my boat. I've been fucked over many times by different mechanics but Doug is the shit! He's honest, does it right the first time, and stands by his work. Give him a try.

Hey Cap, before I waste my time calling him do you know how far he will drive to do some 'side work'? I'm off the 605/91.

I starting purchasing most of my parts for my 96 200hp OceanPro from their store and have had nothing but good help and advise, even got some discounts when I paid cash. I've never taken my boat to them for repairs but plan on doing it if I can't find a good mechanic that's willing to do some side work. Their waiting list (just to get your boat in their yard) can range from 1 week to 1 month, depends on whether you have an OB or IB engine. I believe that they have two mechanics and each one is dedicated to the different types of engines. The extended wait can mean one of of things, they take their fucken time or they do great work and everyone wants to take they boat to them. Good luck!
