In order to receive the proper gear ratio for your drive you must use chart below:

V-8 engines --- 1.50:1 ratio
V-6 engines ---- 1.81:1 ratio, 1.84:1 ratio
3.7 litre and 470 ----1.81: ratio, 1.84:1 ratio
Inline 6 --- 1.62:1 ratio, 1.65:1 ratio
120, 140, 3.0 litre --- 1.94:1 ratio, 1.98:1 ratio
Please note that Mercruiser changed their gear ratios somewhat in the mid-1980s (for example a V-8 gear ratio used to be 1.50:1, but Mercruiser now uses 1.47:1 ratios. Select the gear ratio based on your engine size)

three year warranty, all parts interchangable with merc parts. I say go for it.

-BTW, It says there NOT made by brunswick. but they are made in the usa, call and find out how many parts are made overseas.

Just talked to Wayne at sterndrive.com regarding the sterndrive.cc units. He said that you'll most definitely get a better financial deal with the SEI unit,buthe also advised that he's taken numerous calls about those units regarding shifting problems, build quality, etc.

Truly, you get what you pay for. For me, the potential headache of having to ship a defective unit across the country would make me think twice about buying it.
