Leak in engine compartment

Well since I have only owned my boat for 5 days I am still new to all of the maintenence that comes along with owning a big boat. Here is the deal.. I discovered a slow water leak in the the engine compartment. I have narrowed it down to a few things and wanted to see if you guys had any other suggestions. Engine is a KAD 44
1) Hoses that come from the outdrive and are used to cool the engine (either coming in or the discharge) ..crack maybe?
2) through hull bait tank pump or hose
3)Through hole seals
4) Deck wash pump
???
I am planning on taking the boat in the water today and trying to narrow down where the water may be coming from. Do you guys have any other suggestions for me?
2000 25' Davis Bahia

Thanks all

Re: Leak in engine compartment

ck the thru hulls take a water hose flood the about 6 inches water in side boat and get under the trailer and take a look.you may get lucky and find it.It usually takes the weight of the boat pressing down into the water to find a leak that small. Its worth a try.You say your new to the boat considering the age you may want to think about replacing all thru hulls and valves, just as a course of maintainence.

Re: Leak in engine compartment

Run it a bit on the muffs. If you get water you know it's not an adjacent issue like a bait pump.
Trailered right now?

Re: Leak in engine compartment

I have a KAD42, w/ DP290E Outdrive/Transom

Took me over a year to find my leak, after doing and checking more things then you can imagine (or that I care to type at this time). End result, after I found the leak, took another year to bother fixing because I had to pull the motor and rebuild the transom plate.

My leak was: The pins that go from inside the transom plate, through the top of the trim/tilt rams, on the outside of the transom. Those pins have a small o-ring that dries and cracks. Very hard to see them with motor installed, but that was it. If you find this to be your problem, I just saved you a year or so of searching and replacing things probably -- one of the best advantages of this board.

Good luck.
