Re: Skipjack rub rail

Skipjack originally bolted the rub rails to the boat. My understanding, since I am also replacing the rubrail, is that I should first fill all of the holes with epoxy and then drill new holes. Is that the case?

And it also appears that the top of the boat will pop off once I remove all the bolts and a few screws. Is that the case?

Ryan once you remove the rub rail you will see that the deck and the hull are still screwed together. The rub rail screws are not the only ones that hold the deck to the hull. You can use the same holes. I took it one step further with my skippy and scraped all the caulking out and re caulk the deck to the hull.
I ordered my rub rail from TACO through West Marine.
Good Luck
Jim

Re: Skipjack rub rail

Jim, how did the TACO rub rail turn out? That is the one I am looking at. Do you recall which model you went with? All aluminum or with an insert?
