| How much to convert to disc trailer brakes
About how much would it cost me to convert my brakes from shitty old drums to discs? It's a #3500 axle. I don't have the time to do this myself.

I just did mine with Kodiak partial stainless steel and all new lines. The job is basic and went well. Parts were approx 460.00. You do need to to change or modify your actuator master cylinder to give the disc brakes more pressure and you need to add an actuator release valve so you can back up.
Good luck

Trail Right trailers in Santa Ana sells a retrofit kit for just below $600 if my memory is correct.
I found this out after I had spent much more....
Call them up and ask.

The problem with my drums is that the damn things spray brake dust all over the side of my boat.

Also, he said the drums seem to be more durable. I guess the disks have VERY fine tolerances and sometimes they get farked up quick qith a little corrosion.
I beleive this is what happened to Mots new trailer.

Disks seem the way to go. My trailer has sat for 4 months and did not corrode enough to cause a problem. Drums have given me problems in the past but hell, we could go on forever about what parts of trailers have had problems. Not sure where I'm going with this.

Nate, I had mine re-done at Freeway Trailer in Escondido, had the whole thing replaced, new drums, spindles, hubs brake lines and actuator, everything was about $ 1,100.00. (in that cost, they also re-wired the trailer lites completley)
They also told me to re-do and go with the drums in stead of the discs, I relied on their expertise and went back with the drums.
Could have probably re did the whole thing with the disc's for the same cost.
