| stainless steering "thing"
Here's where my true intelligence shines---I recently sold an old outboard that still contained on it a part that I may have still needed......Not worried about getting a new one, but I don't know wtf this thing is called.
Ok, here's my Pollock description of the steering "thing" that I need for my Yamaha F150. My motor has on it (or will have on it) a side mount Seastar hydraulic steering tube. This tube incorporates the standard steering shaft (foot long stainless thing) that passes through the steering tube housing on the engine. The end of this shaft is to connect to the stainless bar that I left on the old motor (because I"m stupid) that connects to a plate on the front of the motor. The purpose of the part that I need is to connect the stainless steering shaft of the hydraulic unit to the steering plate located on the front of my motor.
Question#1: What the hell is this stainless steering rod called?
Question#2: Where can I get one?
So much for 8 years of college.

Believe me, if I could do things over again, I wouldn't have wasted so much time and money funding the liberal cause found at most universities. All it got me is this shitty job that I friggin can't stand......
Frank, you still get around Pt. Loma much? Give my cell a shout when yer around----it's about time for a couple of iced teas, don't ya think?

Hey Chuck~
It's pretty ironic and crazy that you just posted this because late last night it had just hit me that we left that steering rod on the outboard that you sold to Jim. Matter of fact it was the piece I moved up from the cardboard so as the engine would slide across the truck bed!!!!
I cant belive between the both of us we forgot to take it off and on top of that didnt think about it even when we were looking right at it when loading up the old engine!!!
Anyways maybe (with a little luck) Jim can possibly get ahold of Doug and maybe throw that steering rod back your way.
Hope the other issue worked out ok today, allthough I wont be surprised if it didnt.

You probably would not have been able to get that piece out anyway. once they are in for a while they get stuck. I went through the same thing. Give me ten minutes and I will get back to you. Its a canadian part, but you can get it through a local distributor .
