Re: Diesel secret fuel mix

I dunno -- sounds too good to be true, therefore...

I've heard about some stuff called 'Seafoam' that's supposed to be great for diesels. I think it was on the TDR (turbo diesel registry) that some guys were talking about it -- smooths a diesel right out, cleans injectors, yadda, yadda, yadda. Supposed to be available at Walmart.

Re: Diesel secret fuel mix

FYI - it sounds like they're making biodiesel. It costs .50 to .60 cents a gallon. It's no secret - people have been making it for years. Maybe we can get a BD operation together and make it in bulk?

Re: Diesel secret fuel mix

Bio diesel sounds cool but the start up investment is huge, plus EPA would be all over you like a cheap suit.

Re: Diesel secret fuel mix

why would epa be on you?

the byproduct is glyceryn. Yea you use some lye but not much. If it's done right it good for the environment. That's why it's called BIO-DIESEL

The reason we don't use it- is because the gas companys own the lines of distr to the pumps- so we buy their diesel fuel. WHich is worse for the environment by far than BIO-DIESEL. It's a joke diesel fuel is 3.00 at the pump!

Also - that link is biodiesel- but without having to go through the regular process of of heating up the grease/oil. There's a somewhat lengthy but simple process to make it. Yes the startup cost is around 3,000 (wich will be 1/2 of our gas bills for fishing his year)

this link has you get the used veg oil and add their chemicals instead of go through the whole process.

I don't doubt it's on the up and up. If i ran a diesel I'd try it with the understanding that I'd have to make late night alley runs to steal the grease before the guys who have a contract to get it from the restaraunt for free comes to get it. Most people who are on to making biodiesel have the place they get it from sign a contract that they will be giving it to the party for free. Rest saves money on dump fee. The guy making biodiesel has a easy dependable source.

Re: Diesel secret fuel mix

A guy I know runs 30% bio 70% high sulfur diesel. He swears that his performance and mileage have improved. Plus the bio supposedly cleans your whole fuel system. Don't really understand that part.

Only down side is that depending on the batch of bio, your exhaust smells like butter popcorn, french fries or Mexican food. He said it has cured him of McDonald's for ever.

Great, all I need is a bunch of fat kids following me down the street

That's interesting about the contract with the restaurants. My friend was going to start making the bio-d, and was telling me he thought he could get all he wanted. SOunds like someones beat him to it...

Re: Diesel secret fuel mix

maybe not...just depends on the area. I'm in the bay area and it's full of tree-huggers. Tree-huggers love biodiesel. I have a diesel truck and looked into it all. Every restaurant around my place is already giving it to someone.

LA or SD may be a diff story
