No experience. Try the boatdiesel.com website. Many forums with tons of info/experience/opinions.

Yes it will. It probably will need the same Borg-warner adapter that I used on my Yanmar to Volvo drive. You would be a KNUCKLHEAD if you went with that Hammerhead motor. My Mechanic said that against his advice he put a pair of them in for a guy and they didn't last 3 months. Tried again with a new set from them and they didn't last 2 weeks!

WOW. That bad huh? IT was actually recommend to me from a pretty trustsorthy mechanic friend. I am in the process of restoring a 71 Bert25 and trying to decide on a motor that will be a screamer. Looks like the Yanmar will do--although I'd like a pair of D3's, but not enough money Thanks

Re: Yanmar 6LPA STP 315 with the Volvo DPR drive?

Yeah, those Yanny's are more bang for the buck. Also much lighter which helps some. They seem to like running fast and don't like to run at low RPM as much. Even more so with that Hammerhead motor. The guy that I referenced earlier ran his boat almost constantly at low RPM's Just under planing speed which loaded those things to death. I am sure that 6LP will push your Bertram along at a nice clip. I have the 4LHA-STZE 240hp in my Skipjack 25 and cruise from 20-26 knots with a top speed of 30+ knots. The "sweet spot" Is 2.8 MPG's at 24-25 knots! I"m sure that a 315hp Yanny will push your wider heavier rig along at at least those speeds and close to those Fuel #'s.
