| Outrigger Cords
The cords on my outriggers are fraying and about to break apart in several areas. I saw someone mention in the past they replaced them with fishing line? Any suggestions?
Thanks
Dave

Take a peice of the cord and go to Weat marine and match it up, I wouldnt use fishing line. Make sure you use the old line to pull the new line through

Was hoping to find something that won't fray so badly so quickly. Have had them for about 2 1/2 yrs. I seem to remember someone posting they used like 300lb line. Do you see any negatives to using line?
Thanks Dave..

Thanks Dave.. | Yeah. Fishing line decomposes from UV rays. You're better off going with a good quality cord. As SaltyDawg said, use the old cord to pull the new cord through.

If you look at some of the commercial 'kits" that are sold at West Marine, etc they use a black "tuna cord" type of material...I've always just gone to home depot and bought the white braided nylon cord in the little 50' packages and it works fine...the ones on my riggers are 3 years old and just fine...match the size and be sure to use the old line to pull the new line through..if yoyu do mess up and "lose" the old line, you can tie a finish nail onto a piece of light mono, drop it through the feed hole, let it "rattle down" and out the end and then tie to the new line..Bob

I just replaced mine Friday, Stay away from the Taco Kit, It lasted less than a year for me, I went to HD and bought two 50' white nylon braided line in bags. It is located in the hardware section. Looks better and it looks like it will last a lot longer.
