Re: GPS problems

Whoa there son!

Had a similair problem with mine and it was the ant cable shorted off and on. It would cut out on me and then come back a few minutes later.
Followed the Ant cable up and found where it had rubbed raw and would short once in awhile.
Check it out!

Aloha, Pete

I'm with Pete. First hand experience with this one still fresh...Yesterday 8/20! I get to the coral light up all the electronics do radio check and GPS check not acquiring sinal. Earlier I was rigging a new spot for the GPS and I just happened to have seen a spot that had rubbed thru the wire coating and was corroding thru the ground wire(outer mesh like wire) on the ANTENA WIRE. Have no options we cut it. peeled back about 1" of the rubber shell. looking at a mesh wire now, cut a straight line in it, twisted it up. :smoking33 then removed the inner protective linner to expose the inside wire and made a tag end long enough to mate the antena wires together again but make sure to leave enough of this protective inner wire covering the exposed wire so the the + and - don't short, taped it up and it works. I'm not going to take all the credit though because other BD'ers have passed this obstacle before and have shared their know-how-to-it=get-it-done- mark

Re: GPS problems

What Kingfish said. Spray everything with CorrosionX and move on. If it is metal, has anything to do with your electrical, and is on your boat, spray it. What the hell, even if it does not have anything to do with the electrical system, spray it. I'm still waiting for the blue stuff.

Re: GPS problems found what is wrong

Hi to all that sent me advise. I called the manufacture, they gave me 2 tips on what to to do. #1 was a reboot of the gps. # 2 was to call C-Map Which I did, Apparrently a lot of Gps"s are starting to have the same problem...espeacially my unit. For what ever reason, the unit as you know, is having a hard time recieving the satilites. C-Map has new software that you plug in like a C card, and it will download the newest software to connect to the satilites. For a rental fee of $ 49.99 and shipping of $ 7.50.
worse case cenerio, if that fails I would have to send in for repairs.
