Battery Question??

Hey......I have 5 deep cycle lead/acid marine batts that went dead in the garage.......

How do I disarm them and use the lead to pour leadheads?????......I'm sick and tired of stripping tire weights....Did 80lbs tonight and my head hurts......

Do I need to let the acid evaporate????....The batts won't hold a charge anymore so the acid probably isn't that strong......Any suggestions????......Warren

Warren???? Desperate????? Maybe you got a little to much fumes from melting that 80lbs last night? You be careful with that "dirty" lead and the fumes it gives off when melting. Be sure you ventilate!
Why would you need so much? And why would you strip a battery for it?

Jump the pos. to neg. with large wrench and wait till she melts down, then seperate the plastic from the lead and you are ready to make caustic weights.

dont bother with the batteries the amount of useable lead you get out of them is virtualy nill. and with the acid dryed to the lead the fumes will knockyou on your ass. stick to the wheel weights they are a lot cleaner safer and you get more out of them. also if you know any roofers who are redueing old roofs try and get the old lead flashing from off the roofs.

If you are in the OC just go down to the Santa Ana river, tip the batteries over, emptying their contents into the river. Then flush the cells with the copious amounts of water the river holds due to the recent rains. If you are in any other county in the US, especially western Riverside County, be advised that it is against the law to dispose of batteries in this manner, or any other hazardous material for that matter. But I think its ok to do so in the OC.

LMAO........don't knock the river, just because the boyz that surf there are a little territorial. They are good peeps just protective from all the 909er's(No offence to the BD brotherhood from the Inland Empire) but it's about this time of the year when shit starts hitting the proverbial fan so to speak. You gotta love the 55 FWY!!!! Still holding my sides....

LMFAO.......Legendary.......

Just figured I could find something to do with these batts that are sittin in the garage........They used to give you a $5 core credit at sears but now they wouldn't even take em........

Just want them outta here........The reason for so much lead is because we only do this once a year or so, I don't fish rock cod but my buddy's do.......

We have 15-20 molds. at $35 a piece + hooks/weedguards and eyes its nice to not have to worry about lead for a while......Thanks for the comebacks......Warren

Thanks for the offer Swazi.....I actually have enough lead for a while....It was more of a way to get rid of the batts.......If you need to borrow any molds let me know.......
